The data for your web site should be provided in electronic form, preferably in WordPerfect or Microsoft Word. Photographs may be supplied as either electronic files or actual photographs (which will be returned). You may either mail the diskette(s) to the web designer or arrangements can be made to transfer the data over the phone lines.
Web page design is a very time-intensive process; we expect to be able to produce three to four provider sites per month. The sites will be designed according to the order in which providers sign-up --- provided, of course, that the source material (data files and photographs) are received in a timely manner.
A basic web site is five to seven pages, including the opening (or home) page and the individual sections that you feel will best describe your agency. These might include a letter from the Executive Director, a Mission Statement, agency news (or an on-line newsletter), staff contacts, programs and services, workshop activities, board members --- the possibilities are limited only by your imagination. You are free to make your site as big as you and your board think it needs to be.
Yes, but Emerald Center has contracted with The Royal Scribe, a family-owned Christian company in North Augusta, to provide this service.
Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will provide a free access account to a non-profit agency, you just have to ask around. Once this is done, all you need is a modem, an Internet browser and a computer to run them.
As often as you like. There are no limitations at this time. Approximately one to two hours of maintenance time is included in your monthly fee.
E-Mail can be addressed to your site, for example: barnwell@schsp.org, but in most cases you will already have an e-mail account provided by your Internet Service Provider. For a charge of $1 per month, we can forward mail received at your schsp.org site to your regular e-mail address. This forwarding is completely transparent to the person sending you mail.
An auto-responder is an e-mail device that sits around and waits for mail coming in to a particular address, for example marlboro@schsp.org. When mail is received, the auto-responder answers with a message of your choosing and notifies you (at your regular e-mail address) of the receipt as well as the message that was sent. This might be used to send out basic information about your agency, a particular program or anything else that might benefit your operation. Auto-responders are $1.00 each and you may have as many as you wish.
